Talmo Pereira discusses the impact of the Broad Summer Research Program on his career as a scientist

Talmo Pereira is a computational neuroscientist who runs his own lab at the Salk Institute for Biological Studies. His group studies animal behavior, neuroscience, and plants using computer vision and deep learning. He is a 2012 alum of the Broad Summer Research Program (BSRP) and credits his experience at Broad as the one that launched his scientific career.

“The fact that the program was able to instill this sense of belonging in us was one of the key factors that allowed me to progress through my first research experiences and subsequent career stages.”

BSRP is an intensive nine-week summer research program at Broad designed for undergraduates with a commitment to biomedical research and an interest in genomics.
