Sharing data and tools to enable discovery
By sharing openly, we can help accelerate research everywhere. At the Broad Institute, scientists make discoveries, data, tools, technologies, and knowledge freely available. We work with industry partners to ensure these innovations benefit patients. Learn more about #HowWeScience.

Making science available to the world to maximize public benefit
Intellectual property — in the form of innovative technologies, foundational datasets, and biological insights — should be made widely available to the scientific community to maximize its impact. When thinking about how to do this with promising technologies such as CRISPR-based genome editing tools, we at the Broad Institute start from two basic principles: How can we maximize the benefit for human health? And what is our responsibility to help ensure these technologies are used in safe and socially responsible ways?
