The life sciences are undergoing a data revolution. The Broad Institute alone generates over 20 terabytes daily — far too much to store locally. We have partnered with leading technology companies to make this massive trove of data — along with cutting-edge software developed at the Broad to analyze that data — freely available on secure, cloud-based platforms. The move allows the Broad to safely store data and share it with researchers around the world. Thanks to the storage capacity and processing power of these cloud solutions, researchers anywhere can access vast amounts of data and analyze it quickly using best-in-class tools — regardless of the capacity of their local computing systems. The cloud also keeps data secure, with access controls, and researchers no longer need to send datasets all over the world.
