Proteomics Platform Resources for Grant Writing

The Proteomics laboratory consists of approximately 3200 sq. ft. of wet chemistry and instrument lab space and is exceptionally well equipped. The facilities house a number of state-of-the-art mass spectrometry systems, including AB SCIEX QTRAP® 5500 LC/MS/MS System with an Eksigent nano LC-Ultra and cHiPLC-nanoflex system front end. The Thermo Scientific LTQ Orbitrap Velos coupled with an LC system provides ultra-high resolution and accurate mass data and is equipped with a high performance HCD cell and ETD capabilities. We have five additional ultra-high performance MS systems, including a Thermo LTQ-FT hybrid linear trap-Fourier transform ion cyclotron resonance mass spectrometer, and four Thermo LTQ-Orbitrap hybrid mass spectrometers, one of which is an XL equipped with HCD and ETD. There is also one AB/Sciex QStar Orthogonal QqTof, two AB/Sciex 4000Q triple quadrupole mass spectrometer systems, an Agilent 6460 ChipQ triple quadrupole MS and a Thermo LTQ linear ion trap.

In addition to the mass spectrometer systems, the laboratory houses a full complement of analytical scale to nano-scale liquid chromatography systems for protein and peptide fractionation are available, as well as conventional protein biochemistry laboratory kits, such as gel electrophoresis systems and centrifuges. The facility also has Thermo Scientific KingFisher Flex Automated Purification System that is set-up in a 96-well plate configuration for magnetic bead processing.

The laboratory has dedicated tissue culture facilities for growing cells for quantitative studies via SILAC metabolic labeling and BL2+ facilities to handle all types of samples. This platform has full capabilities for biological and clinical sample preparation, and is skilled in all aspects of quantitative proteomics including phosphoproteomics, biomarker discovery and biomarker verification.
