Bacterial species and the associated microbiome persist in tumors and metastases. Antibiotic treatment selectively reduces microbiome-induced tumor growth and can advantageously be included in treatment regimens. Accordingly, the present invention disclosure relates to, for example, the diagnosing cancer in a subject and providing identifying an effective treatment regimen for the subject.
