Catherine Wu, M.D.

Catherine J. Wu is an associated researcher and institute member in the Broad Institute’s Cancer Program. She is a professor of medicine at Harvard Medical School and Dana-Farber Cancer Institute (DFCI), as well as a staff physician at DFCI and Brigham and Women’s Hospital.

Wu has initiated an integrated program of research and clinical activities that focuses on dissecting the basis of effective anti-tumor immunity. Her laboratory has focused on the use of genomics-based approaches to discover immunogenic antigen targets and to understand the molecular basis of therapeutic response and resistance. Many of her studies have focused on longitudinal studies of patients with chronic lymphocytic leukemia (CLL). She has also led early phase clinical trials to test personalized tumor vaccines in melanoma and glioblastoma.

Wu graduated from Harvard University with a degree in biochemistry, and earned her medical degree from Stanford University School of Medicine. She spent her residency in internal medicine at Brigham and Women’s Hospital and completed a postdoctoral fellowship in hematology-oncology at the DFCI/Partners CancerCare training program. She is a member of the American Society of Clinical Investigation, a recipient of a 2011 Stand-Up to Cancer Innovative Research Grant from the American Association for Cancer Research, and a scholar of the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society. She is an elected member of the National Academy of Medicine.
