Danielle Azzariti
Danielle Azzariti is a senior project manager in the Program in Medical and Population Genetics Translational Genomics Group at the Broad Institute of MIT and Harvard. She works under the direction of Heidi Rehm with a focus on genomic data sharing.

Azzariti has two primary responsibilities at the Broad Institute, in the Clinical Genome Resource, or ClinGen, and the Matchmaker Exchange, an international federated network of genomic matchmaking services. ClinGen is a research project funded by the National Human Genome Research Institute that is dedicated to building a central resource that defines the clinical relevance of genes and variants for use in precision medicine and research. Azzariti serves as the co-chair of the ClinGen Education, Coordination, and Training Working Group. In addition, through her work with the Matchmaker Exchange, she facilitates novel gene-disease discovery through the exchange of genotypic and phenotypic profiles.

Prior to joining the Broad Institute in August 2018, Azzariti worked for 9 years as a genetic counselor at Massachusetts General Hospital, first as a clinical and research genetic counselor with the hospital’s Neurogenetics Program and Center for Child and Adolescent Health Policy, and subsequently in Heidi Rehm’s team within the Partners HealthCare Personalized Medicine research group.

Azzariti is adjunct faculty of the MGH Institute of Health Professions (IHP) and a member of the MGH IHP Genetic Counseling Research Oversight Committee. Azzariti is an American Board of Genetic Counseling (ABGC) certified and licensed genetic counselor with a master’s degree in genetic counseling from Brandeis University. She also holds a bachelor’s degree in biology from College of the Holy Cross.
