Jodi Hirschman, Ph.D.
Senior Writing, Project Planning and Communication, Connectivity Map
Jodi Hirschman is senior writer for project planning and communication for the Connectivity Map (CMAP) project at the Broad Institute of MIT and Harvard. The focus of her work is to plan and write/edit key communication modes from the CMAP group, with an emphasis on scientific papers, explanations and updates of the group’s work to funding agencies or collaborators, and technical documentation and tutorials for the knowledge base on the website (CLUE.io). She leads the communications and outreach team, overseeing a small team of writers to help produce this content and to curate information from the scientific literature pertaining to the CMAP assay.
Hirschman came to the Broad Institute in 2014 having previously worked on biocuration for the Saccharomyces Genome Database and the BioGRID database. She obtained her Ph.D. in bacteriology from the University of California, Davis and undertook postdoctoral research in the laboratories of Dr. Fred Winston at Harvard Medical School and Dr. Duane Jenness at University of Massachusetts Medical School, studying gene regulation and G protein signaling in the yeast Saccharomyces cerevisiae. She also holds a B.S. in bacteriology from University of Wisconsin, Madison.
