Zhenyi An, Ph.D.

Zhenyi An is a research scientist II in the Gerstner Center for Cancer Diagnostics of the Broad Institute of MIT and Harvard, where she has worked under the direction of Viktor Adalsteinsson since 2020 on improving early detection of cancer by liquid biopsies. Specifically, her research is focused on two major areas: understanding the biology of cell-free DNA generation and clearance, and developing new technologies that improve the sensitivity of circulating tumor DNA detection. 

An co-leads the Staff Scientist Development Committee at the Broad, the alumni/career talks initiative, and the travel grant initiative. She won the American Association for Cancer Research Scholar-in-Training Award, and received young investigator awards from the American Brain Tumor Association and Alex's Lemonade Stand Foundation. An was also the winner of the golden award from the Covid-19 Hackathon hosted by the University of California, San Francisco.

An obtained a Ph.D. in genetics and development from the University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center. She received her postdoctoral training and was promoted to assistant professional researcher at the University of California, San Francisco.
