We develop and deploy a systematic approach to reconstruct circuits on a genomic scale, based on four iterative steps:
- Measure the level and activity of tens of thousands of components using genomic methods.
- Create a computational model to explain the data, using principles of reverse engineering.
- Perturb key components in the model, using powerful experimental tools.
- Repeat the process by measuring the cell’s response to perturbation, refining the model, etc.
