2026 Media Boot Camp: Applications Now Open

The Broad Institute is now accepting applications for its 2026 Media Boot Camp.

This annual two-day program connects science/health journalists and editors with leading faculty from the Broad Institute, MIT, Harvard University, and Harvard’s teaching hospitals. Through lab tours, expert-led presentations, and candid discussions, attendees will explore emerging story leads and gain the foundational knowledge to cover the latest scientific advances in biomedicine.

Dates & Logistics

  • Application Deadline: Friday, March 20, 5:00 PM ET
  • Welcome Reception: Wednesday evening, April 29
  • Main Program: Thursday, April 30 & Friday, May 1
  • Location: Broad Institute, 415 Main Street, Cambridge, MA
  • Costs: Hotel accommodations and meals during the program are provided by the Broad Institute. Attendees are responsible for their own travel to and from Cambridge.

The Media Boot Camp is an educational offering. All presentations are on background.

2026 Boot Camp Topics

  • The Future of Genetic Medicine: Exploring the new frontiers of genome editing and large-scale clinical genomics.
  • Engineering the Immune System: Understanding and reprogramming the body to fight disease, particularly cancer.
  • Architecture of the Brain: Mapping the spatial, genetic, and anatomical landscape of the brain to unlock new treatment strategies.
  • Foundations of Disease: Using new approaches and cutting-edge technologies to understand the root causes of diseases.
  • Tools of Biomedical Innovation: Developing the massive-scale resources and specialized technologies that drive modern research and medicine.
