2025 Media Boot Camp

The Broad Institute of MIT and Harvard is now accepting applications for its 2025 Media Boot Camp.

This annual program connects health/science journalists and editors with faculty from the Broad Institute, Massachusetts Institute of Technology, Harvard University, and Harvard’s teaching hospitals for a two-day event exploring the latest advances in genomics and biomedicine. Journalists will explore possible future storylines, gain fundamental background knowledge, and build relationships with researchers. The program format includes presentations, discussions, and lab tours.

The 2025 Media Boot Camp will take place at the Broad Institute in Cambridge, MA on Thursday, May 8 and Friday, May 9 (with an evening welcome reception on Wednesday, May 7).

APPLICATION DEADLINE IS FRIDAY, MARCH 21 (5:00 PM US EASTERN TIME).

2025 Boot Camp topics include:

  • Infectious disease and pandemic preparedness
  • Gene editing
  • Cancer biology and treatment strategies
  • Organoids and brain development
  • Biology of trauma and adversity
  • Therapeutic insights into neurodegenerative and psychiatric conditions

Current speakers include Paola Arlotta, Jason Buenrostro, Todd Golub, Karestan Koenen, Eric Lander, David Liu, Bronwyn MacInnis, Vamsi Mootha, Ben Neale, Ralda NehmeAl Ozonoff, ​​​​​​​Pardis Sabeti, and William Sellers, with potentially more to come.

The Media Boot Camp is an educational offering. All presentations are on background.

Hotel accommodations and meals during the program will be provided by the Broad Institute. Attendees must cover travel costs to and from Cambridge.
