The Microbial ‘Omics Core

The Microbial Omics Core (MOC) of the Broad's Infectious Disease and Microbiome Program was established to address key barriers to utilizing high-throughput sequencing technologies for infectious disease and microbiome research. To this end, MOC develops and implements improved methods for 1) extracting nucleic acids from diverse microbes and a wide variety of sample types; 2) generating libraries for sequencing microbial genomes, defining the genetic diversity of microbial communities, and profiling the transcriptomes of microbes and their hosts; and 3) mining sequencing datasets for biologically relevant trends.
