The Broad Institute is pioneering a new model of collaborative biomedical science to transform biology and medicine. To do that, we have created a unique community of amazing, creative people — “Broadies” — each with a passion for pushing scientific frontiers.
Who works at the Broad?
Broadies have a diverse collection of talents, expertise, and backgrounds, creating a rich collaborative environment for solving intractable scientific problems.

Our unique structure, organized around core faculty labs, scientific programs, and scientific platforms, allows us to generate massive amounts of data and develop breakthrough technologies to analyze them. And we are committed to sharing all of it openly with the entire scientific community.
Broad scientists generate 24TB of raw genomic sequence data every day. Software engineering at Broad is about building creative solutions to catalog, manage, and analyze that dizzying volume of data, and make it available so that researchers around the world can do research that matters: understanding the genome and curing disease.
Broad computational biologists and bioinformatics analysts collaborate with interdisciplinary teams of scientists who are working together to revolutionize the way biomedical research is done.
It comes down to our culture. Our community transcends academic and organizational barriers, encouraging different points of view and making all Broadies part of something meaningful.
