Senior Scientist, Group Leader
Thouis “Ray” Jones is a senior scientist at the Broad Institute of MIT and Harvard, and a principal investigator in the Novo Nordisk Foundation Center for Genomic Mechanisms of Disease.
Jones has more than 25 years’ experience in software engineering, algorithm development, image analysis, and solving challenging biomedical research problems. His research has focused on understanding the regulatory effects of common variants in the genome, mechanisms of gene regulation, and automatic image analysis for high-throughput cell imaging systems. Jones was a cofounder of the CellProfiler project, an open-source software tool for cell-image analysis and a powerful resource for the biomedical community.
Jones received his Sc.D. in computer science from MIT and conducted postdoctoral research within the BioPhenics Platform at the Institut Curie in France.
