Lee McGuire is the chief communications officer at the Broad Institute of MIT and Harvard. The Office of Communications aims to raise the profile and familiarity of the Broad Institute, steward the institute’s reputation, and inform and connect members of the Broad community. The office supports science writing, media relations, events, web presence and maintenance, social media, visual communications, internal communications, and video production.
Before joining the Broad in 2015, McGuire served on the superintendent’s executive leadership team as chief communications officer for the Boston Public Schools. He is a reporter by training and spent ten years as a broadcast journalist covering government and health care policy for television stations in Boise, Austin, and Houston.
McGuire is a founding member of Out@Broad, the Broad Institute’s internal affinity group for members of the LGBTQIA+ community and their allies. In addition, McGuire serves as the chair of the board for the Kendall Square Association.
McGuire earned a B.A. in politics from Princeton University and a M.A. in journalism from the University of Missouri-Columbia.
