Jason began developing an enthusiasm for science after visiting several hospitals where he witnessed technology and research driving innovation. He felt he could further define his interests in genetics, cancer, and general medicine by spending a summer at the Broad Institute. His research was based on microfluidics, a multidisciplinary field that focuses on the development of tools to manipulate and isolate extremely small amounts of liquid. Jason’s goal was to isolate individual cells in oil droplet emulsions, enabling a more accurate and efficient way to observe and analyze genomes of single cells.
Jason felt that his internship provided him with an amazing opportunity to interact with world-class mentors and motivated peers. Outside of school, he enjoys listening to music, playing soccer, and exercising. He is also the founder of a non-profit organization called Youth Inspire, whose goal is to help pediatric cancer patients around the world through peer motivation and support.
