Conor always had an interest in the natural sciences; however, his high school chemistry class made a huge impression on him and influenced his decision to participate in the Summer Scholars Program. His research involved working with a protein implicated in pancreatic cancer called retinoblastoma binding protein 9 (RBBP9). His goal was to express the protein, run tests with selective inhibitors to determine their effectiveness, and elucidate the biological role of RBBP9 in cancer. Throughout the process, Conor was able to gain invaluable laboratory skills related to methods like polymerase chain reaction and transfection.
In his spare time, Conor likes to run competitively, listen to music, and play the trumpet. He is particularly interested in jazz improvisation because it provides him with a creative outlet.
