Beth Zelnick Kaufman, J.D.
Beth Zelnick Kaufman is the chief legal officer of the Broad Institute of MIT and Harvard. She will provide thought leadership on legal strategy, risk management, and legal operations, focusing on aligning these areas with our institutional goal of transforming biology and medicine. Kaufman brings more than 30 years of experience working in the healthcare industry, both as in-house and outside counsel.
Most recently, Kaufman served as vice president of legal affairs at Amneal Pharmaceuticals, Inc., a publicly traded generics and specialty pharmaceutical company. In that role, she was responsible for legal counsel and strategic advising on general commercial, transactional, litigation, compliance, human resources, pharmaceutical approval, manufacturing, data privacy, and ethics.
Kaufman’s career has spanned home healthcare, medical device, and brand and generic pharmaceutical companies, where she has served in a variety of senior roles, guiding companies at different stages of development. Kaufman began her career practicing law at Brown, Rudnick, Freed & Gesmer.
Kaufman received her B.A. in anthropology from Amherst College and her J.D. from New York University. She is a member of the Massachusetts and New Jersey bar associations.
