Progressive Retinal Atrophy (PRA)

Progressive Retinal Atrophy (PRA) is a genetic disease that that causes atrophy of the neural retinal structures leading to progressive vision loss leading to blindness.

Latest Research Update: We have identified a new gene in Golden retrievers through a comparison of the genome between healthy and Golden Retrievers with PRA. This mutation is only one of several and further analyses are ongoing. Sample collection is ongoing in other breeds.
