Chemical Biology: Clemons Group

Our group focuses on systematic computational approaches to small-molecule science. We seek to describe similarity and diversity of small molecules and small-molecule collections in terms of their measured performance in biological settings, and to find computational descriptions of small-molecule structure that correlate with and predict performance. Working with synthetic chemists, we seek to identify performance consequences of decisions made during small-molecule library synthesis. Working with cell biologists, we seek to understand small-molecule action in cells, particularly using multiple readouts (small-molecule profiling), and relate these findings to cell state (e.g., genomic features of healthy versus disease cells).
