Accessing MLPCN resources
There are several mechanisms to access the resources of the NIH's MLPCN, depending upon the point-of-readiness of your project. We have developed templates and guidelines for each of these mechanisms, and can also write endorsement letters for applications. Please contact us to discuss this in more detail.
HTS-ready assays
- Assay Fast Track: If you have a funded NIH grant that describes development of primary and secondary assays for HTS, you are eligible for Fast Track consideration. When you have a validated primary assay, pilot screening data, and validated secondary assays, you can write a short application that is reviewed by the NIH MLPCN project team. These reviews occur monthly and decisions are generally made very quickly. More details can be found here.
- Chemistry Fast Track: If you have a funded NIH grant that describes development of primary and secondary assays for HTS, and you have already identified a validated hit outside of MLPCN, you are eligible for Fast Track consideration to support hit-to-probe optimization studies. More details can be found here.
- R01/ R21: For HTS-ready projects (validated primary assay, pilot screening data, and validated secondary assays) that are not described in a funded NIH grant, you can apply for an R01/ R21 award to enter the network for probe development (screening and chemistry optimization). This provides funding and access to the screening and chemistry resources of the MLPCN. The remaining deadlines for this program are Feb. 5, 2012, Jun. 5, 2011 and Oct. 5 2012.
- R01: For projects that are not described in a funded NIH grant and that have starting compounds in hand ("validated hits") that require further medicinal chemistry for optimization you can apply for an R01 award to enter the network. The remaining deadlines for this program are Feb. 5, 2012, Jun. 5, 2011 and Oct. 5 2012.
Assay Development
For projects requiring assay development there is an R01 funding opportunity issued by 9 NIH institutes to support development of primary and secondary assays for HTS. Projects developed through this route are eligible for Assay Fast Track entry into MLPCN. This provides for up to 3 years of funding and applications are received three times a year: Feb 5, Jun 5 and Oct 5. More details can be found here.
