Working with GAP
The Genetic Analysis Platform (GAP) is a team of professional scientists focused on the discovery, development, and optimization of technologies used for genomic analysis. We work collaboratively with scientists both at the Broad and around the world to utilize these tools to address cutting edge questions and major projects that are beyond the scope of a single laboratory. We typically work under a collaborative model where we have scientific engagement in the design, execution, and analysis of a study; however, we do accept a limited number of qualified "fee-for-service" projects from outside the Broad, as capacity allows.
All of the dedicated scientists in the Genetic Analysis Platform work closely with our collaborators with the hope of achieving a positive, successful outcome to each project. The Genetic Analysis Platform comprises the following groups:
Production and Technology Development Teams
These teams are organized by platform (Whole Genome, Sequenom, Directed Sequencing, Gene Expression, and Technology Development). Each platform team is headed by 1-2 platform managers and staffed with skilled technicians. The platform staff execute high-throughput production genotyping and gene expression activities, perform production data quality control assessments and work to continually optimize throughput and cost effectiveness for these high throughput processes. The Technology Development Team leads special projects for the platform, including piloting novel technologies and protocols.
Informatics
The informatics team develops tools and infrastructure to support sample and project management, data production and QC, and secure data transfer (including raw genotypes or other ancillary files such as intensity files) to appropriate databases such as NCBI/ dbGAP.
Project Management
This unit coordinates interactions between internal and external groups to ensure that project goals are achieved. A dedicated project manager works closely with each collaborating scientist to create experimental plans with clear deliverables and deadlines. Project plans are rolled up into a detailed work plan that allocates capacity and sets specific goals, milestones and timetables. The project managers also facilitate analysis and train users on available GAP data management and analysis tools.
Please feel free to read about our technology offerings and project requirements. If you would like to initiate a project or get more information, please use the GAP inquiry form to contact us. A member of the GAP team will get in touch with you directly to discuss how to move forward with your project.
Thank you for considering GAP for your genotyping and gene expression studies. We look forward to working with you!
