Christopher Newton-Cheh is an Assistant Professor of Medicine at Harvard Medical School and a staff cardiologist at Massachusetts General Hospital.

The Newton-Cheh laboratory based in the Center for Human Genetic Research and the Cardiovascular Research Center at Massachusetts General Hospital focuses on defining the genetic determinants of common cardiovascular diseases and traits. Our lab studies blood pressure and electrocardiographic QT interval, risk factors for stroke/heart failure/heart attack and sudden cardiac death/drug toxicity, respectively. We are applying these discoveries to improve prediction in the general population of risk for these lethal diseases, to identify individuals susceptible to drug-induced cardiotoxicity and to identify novel genes and pathways that can improve our understanding of human pathophysiology and identify targets for novel therapeutics.
