Summer Internship
The summer internship program is designed for local high school students, during the summer in between their junior and senior years, who are interested in learning more about science and genomics. Students chosen for the program spend six weeks in a laboratory at the Broad Institute, where they carry out research projects designed for them by their mentors.
Although the program focuses on laboratory work, interns gain in-depth knowledge of genomic research by attending scientific seminars, discussing science in the news, and touring other labs at the Broad. To complete the internship, each student presents the results of his or her research project during a scientific poster session open to the Broad community.
The application deadline for the 2012 Summer Internship Program is noon on Tuesday Feb 28th. Only applications that are submitted by this deadline will be reviewed. Complete applications require submitting an on-line form, and faxing or emailing a teacher letter of recommendation and a school transcript, by this deadline. (Letters and transcripts may also be mailed, if they are postmarked by Tues Feb 28th.)
Applicants should read over the instructions below, and then fill out an on-line application on or before the application deadline. Teachers and administrators from participating Boston/Cambridge area schools can nominate current juniors for the spring program, and selection will be based on an online application, transcript, and letter of recommendation. In addition, finalists will be interviewed on site at the Broad Institute.
Dates of 2012 Internship:
This is a paid six-week long internship for rising seniors that runs Monday through Friday, roughly 9am - 4pm, July 9th through August 17th at the Broad Institute.
