File Extension Identifies Format

IGV uses the following rules to determine the file format of a given file:

• Use the file extension to determine the file format. Ignore the .txt file extension. (For example, both test.cbs and test.cbs.txt are treated as segmented data files.)
• If that fails, read the file as a BED file.
• If that fails, read the file as a sample information file.
• If that fails, IGV cannot determine the file format and displays an error message.
