Providing feedback and getting help
From GSA
Joining the GATK support community
The GATK enjoys a robust and growing user community, and we have created an online Get Satisfaction GSA support forum to assist and leverage this community. In order for the support community to function optimally, analysts should be able to answer each other's questions in addition to relying on answers that GSA members will provide. It's also vitally important to see questions asked on the forum you did not ask yourself or even know you had. So I recommend that you configure your forum account to receive notifications of every new topic and every new reply in the forum. To do this, please follow the following steps:
- Join the forum by going to http://getsatisfaction.com/gsa and clicking the "Sign up" link at the top right corner of the page.
- If you have a "@broadinstitute.org" email address, you will automatically be added as a member of the analysis community that can receive updates for every topic and every post.
- If you do *not* have a "@broadinstitute.org" email address, email us after you've created your account so we can set the appropriate permissions on your account.
- Once you have followed the prompts to create a new account, go to your "Email & Notifications" configuration page and select the check box to "Notify me of every new topic and every new reply in Genome Sequencing and Analysis".
Within the Broad Institute
The GATK uses JIRA for dependency tracking and project management. If you are within the Broad and require a bug fix or feature enhancement, please submit your request through JIRA.
To report bugs and request features in either the GATK or its toolkit:
- Create a JIRA account on the Broad shared JIRA server.
- Email us to gain access to the 'Genome Sequence Analysis' project.
- Use the 'Create New Issue' form to report bugs and request features. If your problem or feature request relates to a specific walker, specify that walker in the 'Component' field.
Our JIRA server is only available via the Broad internal network. If you wish to use JIRA outside the Broad, please connect via VPN before attempting to log in.
Getting Involved
Because we have a user base that spans many groups at the Broad Institute, ensuring that everyone's voice is heard can be difficult. For future releases, we're going to try using JIRA as a collaboration tool.
To add your voice to features or bug requests:
- Log into JIRA and navigate to the Genome Sequence Analysis project.
- Using the Issue Navigator, scan through issues that might be relevant to you.
- View and add to the comments section to contribute your thoughts.
- To receive an email when other users add to the comments, select 'Watch it to be notified of changes'.
- To report additional issues, use the 'Create New Issue' form.
