DbSNP Format

Overview
The DbSNP format (as used by Tribble) is a direct dump of the UCSC DbSNP table.
Getting DbSNP
The DbSNP file can be generated from the UCSC Table Browser. From the UCSC Genome Browser, choose the following options:
- clade: Mammal
- genome: Human
- assembly:<whatever is appropriate>
- group: Variation and Repeats
- track: SNPs (the version you'd like)
- region: genome (unless you just want a sub-segment)
- output file: the output file location you'd like to use
The file is now ready for use with Tribble.
