Chinnappa Dilip Kodira is director of genome annotation at the Broad Institute. He is responsible for managing the scientific aspects of multiple annotation projects.
Prior to joining the Whitehead Institute/MIT Center for Genome Research in 2001 (now part of the Broad Institute), Chinnappa was manager of the scientific annotation and analysis team at Celera Genomics for four years where he was responsible for the annotation of fruit fly, human and mouse genomes. Earlier, he was at the National Center for Genome Resources (Santa Fe, New Mexico) and at the Sealy Center for Molecular Science, University of Texas Medical Branch (Galveston, Texas) where he worked on several projects leading to the cloning, sequencing, and computational and experimental analysis of DNA repair genes.
Chinnappa obtained his M.S. in molecular biology from Indiana State University. He studied the regulation of c-myc and -max genes in Xenopus at the Indiana University School of Medicine, Indiana.
