The Ninth Annual International Conference on Research in Computational Molecular Biology

RECOMB 2005 attendees will have several opportunities to meet during the conference. We have arranged the following functions during the meeting:

Saturday, May 14, 2:00PM

Treasure Hunt Ice-Breaker

In this activity, you and your team will have one hour to visit control locations marked on a map of the MIT campus. For the nerdly amongst you, this is the NP-complete Prize Collecting Traveling Salesman problem, which has a respectable and fascinating literature, and arguably untapped applications in bioinformatics. This is a fun activity for all, and you can take it slow and easy with your family and friends; or you can race against your colleagues. All ages are welcome; under 18 must be accompanied by an adult.

Things to bring: comfortable shoes, and appropriate outdoor gear for the weather.

For more information on orienteering, the map navigation sport, visit the International Orienteering Federation at

Thanks to financial support from ISCB this event is free and open to all RECOMB attendees and their families, however registration is required. If you have questions about the Treasure Hunt Ice-Breaker please contact Barb Bryant at
