The Arachne code package uses many different input and output files, representing a wide variety of objects. The following is a list of some of the file formats you may come across.

In general, file formats may be human-readable or binary, depending on whether they are optimized for understandability or to save space. Most human-readable files can be easily read in a text editor, though some require outside programs such as LaTeX or GhostView. Data from binary-format files cannot be examined directly.
