The GSEA software and source code and the Molecular Signatures Database (MSigDB) are freely available to individuals in both academia and industry for internal research purposes. We request that every unique user register at our web site to track usage, which we report to our funding agencies. The license for the software includes the ability to modify the GSEA source code for your own use. However, if you are interested in redistributing any portion of the code or the MSigDB, or any modified versions that you may have created that include any portion of the code or the MSigDB, we ask you to please contact us for special arrangements that ensure our continuing ability to monitor the size of our user community.
Acknowledgements: The Molecular Signature Database (MSigDB) is a collection of gene sets maintained by the GSEA team. The team welcomes and appreciates contributions to this shared resource and encourages users to submit their gene sets to email@example.com. Our thanks to the many contributors. A full list can be found in MSigDB Acknowledgements.
Your download or display of the database of gene sets known as Molecular Signature Database (“MSigDB”), or any component thereof, found at http://www.broadinstitute.org/gsea/msigdb/ is personal to you as an individual and is limited to one single user to copy, display, and use for internal research purposes only. You agree not to put MSigDB on a network, server, or other similar technology that may be accessed by any individual other than You.
You acknowledge that title to MSigDB shall remain with MIT. Should You incorporate any data from MSigDB into any software or database, you must retain, to the extent MSigDB is marked with a MIT copyright notice or notice of attribution to contributors, such notice.

IN NO EVENT SHALL MIT, OR THEIR RESPECTIVE TRUSTEES, DIRECTORS, OFFICERS, EMPLOYEES, AND AFFILIATES BE LIABLE FOR INCIDENTAL OR CONSEQUENTIAL DAMAGES OF ANY KIND, INCLUDING, WITHOUT LIMITATION, ECONOMIC DAMAGES OR INJURY TO PROPERTY AND LOST PROFITS, REGARDLESS OF WHETHER MIT SHALL BE ADVISED, SHALL HAVE OTHER REASON TO KNOW, OR IN FACT SHALL KNOW OF THE POSSIBILITY OF THE FOREGOING.
If, by operation of law or otherwise, any of the aforementioned warranty disclaimers are determined inapplicable, Your sole remedy against MIT, regardless of the form of action, including, but not limited to, negligence and strict liability, shall be replacement of MSigDB with an updated version, if one exists.
