The primary goal of this project is to identify the genes which predispose humans to developing the inflammatory bowel diseases (IBD) known as Crohn's Disease (CD) and Ulcerative colitis (UC).
The IBD project is a collaborative effort between our group at the Whitehead Institute/MIT Center for Genome Research and multiple canadian centers, situated in Toronto (Mount Sinai Hospital Lunenfeld Research Institute and the Hospital for Sick Children), Montreal (Montreal General Hospital, Royal Victoria Hospital, and Jewish General Hospital), Chicoutimi (Complexe Hospitalier de la Sagamie), and Halifax (Dalhousie University).
We have been performing a genome-wide scan on more than 150 sibpair families and have reported the results from our linkage analyses:
Relevant OMIM links:
IBD 1
IBD 2
Ulcerative Colitis
