Actinomycetales group Database
The actinomycetes are an order of Gram-positive bacteria known for their prolific production of small molecule natural products, including numerous clinically-used antibiotics, anticancer agents, and immunosuppressive agents. This genome sequencing project aims to increase our understanding of the biosynthetic potential of actinomycetes, and to reveal strategies for stimulating the production of 'cryptic' natural products - those that are not produced under standard laboratory culture conditions.
