Physical and Optical Maps
The construction of physical maps for these three sequenced Fusaria is essential for addressing fundamental questions relating to the genome organization and the dynamics of chromosome rearrangements.
With support from research community, we were able to create physical maps for all three genomes:
Mapping of Fusarium graminearum assembly to the genetic map based on variable number of tandem repeats (VNTR) markers (Gale and Kistler, 2005)
Mapping of Fusarium verticillioides assembly to the genetic map of based on restriction fragment length polymorphism (RFLP) markers (Xu et al, 1996)
Mapping of Fusarium oxysporum f. sp. lycopersici strain 4287 assembly to the optical maps created at the Laboratory for Molecular and Computational Genetics at the University of Wisconsin
Mapping of Fusarium oxysporum strain Fo47 and FoSC3-a assemblies to the optical maps created at the Laboratory for Molecular and Computational Genetics at the University of Wisconsin
